Case Study: Nevada One Solar
Solar Power has been gaining acceptance as environmental concerns become more prevalent. ATI’s flexible automation solutions are appropriate when new ideas are introduced in the power industry. We are committed to helping engineering companies design valve automation products that satisfy the project’s environmental goals while also recognizing the increased economic pressure of such projects.
Solar Power Actuator: Our hydraulic intensifier actuators (air-to-hydraulic pressure) recently were selected for a new solar project in Nevada. The customer needed actuators that would provide extremely high thrust for steam valves at the plant. The plant could only supply 60 psig of air pressure which required large actuators to provide the necessary thrust. ATI provided a power system using the 60 psig of air to drive small hydraulic pumps which produced higher pressure so that smaller hydraulic actuators could be used. Although the system was more complex than pneumatic actuators alone, the solution decreased the capital cost of the project.
